What happens when a world is composed to change how it feels to be in one?

Ontik is an ongoing series of immersive environments built from light, movement and sound. Each portal explores a different atmosphere: attraction, passage, infinity, ascent, vastness or an encounter with something unfamiliar.
The work grows out of my investigation of mystical experience and ontological shifts—moments when the familiar relationship between self and world changes. Here, those questions take the form of spaces to inhabit.
The environments invite exploration. Their meaning depends, in part, on what happens between the work and the person entering it.
Perception as material
My research asks what unusual experiences might disclose about consciousness and reality. Ontik brings that inquiry into an artistic process: composing conditions of perception through colour, scale, motion and sound.
The relationship is exploratory. An immersive artwork can open a question without settling the philosophical argument behind it.

Ontik uses WebXR, Three.js and custom GLSL shaders. Code becomes a medium for spatial rhythms, luminous structures and changing fields of perception.
